The moon is a waxing crescent at 45% in Aries. There is no void moon today. The moon will enter its first quarter at 6:56 p.m. EST today. Mars is in retrograde.
Today marks the first actual day of The Satyr Witch blog. Today is my first daily post with a card draw to indicate what’s going on for me today.
Mondays are usually hectic. Mondays are the days that I plan my week, meet with my boss, get caught up on email, take out the trash, etc., etc. Today is no different. On top of that, my sister is going to get some labwork done today, but she’s staying with our other sister while she undergoes that. Meanwhile, I’ll have the house to myself for a few days.
Today’s Card Pull
So, with today being so hectic, imagine my surprise when a card jumped out at me while shuffling. Now, I’m one to always pay attention to these, so I set it aside, continued shuffling, and did my daily draw.
Card 1: Overall Thoughts (Jumped Card)
Temperance is the 14th card of the Major Arcana, typically indicating that one should KISS (keep it simple, stupid). The card depicts a celestial being pouring water from her left cup (the body or grounded being) to her right cup (the soul or higher being). She stands before a body of water with the sun rising in the background. She bears the alchemical symbol for fire on her robe, indicating that the soul should be tempered before it can be used. Two yellow irises are on her left, symbols of positive change and support. There is a path from the water to the mountain in the East where the sun is rising.
The Temperance card references the soul and its journey to the higher plane. It indicates that one must look past earthly egoism towards a greater goal. When one tempers metal, one turns unrefined ore into strong steel by mixing just the right ingredients to become something more powerful.
I believe this card indicates that a daily spiritual blog is good for my soul and my path forward while I go through this trying time. I think it means that putting forth my thoughts, as well as seeking higher meaning, are going to make me more resilient, stronger, and more potent in my abilities.
Very interesting.
Card 2: Daily Draw
The Star is the 16th card of the Major Arcana, usually referring to giving up the mundane for the spiritual in quiet contemplation. It depicts a naked woman pouring water from her right hand (the soul or higher being) into a pond of water while pouring water from her left hand (the body or the grounded being) into the ground, creating a small tributary. There are seven eight-pointed stars in the sky, with an eighth one in the middle shining brightest. These stars depict the eight spiritual days of the Wheel (Imbolc, Ostara, Samhain, etc.), indicating that one should keep holy these days. A bird watches over in the background.
The Star card represents the need to give up earthly matters to reflect upon the divine. The right hand pours water into a reflecting pool, while the left hand pours out onto the ground. This means that reflecting upon the divine can also nourish the mundane. This card reminds us that we are celestial beings called upon to bring forth a greater good or mission in this lifetime. Note, too, that one rivulet from the left hand leads back to the pool, meaning they are still connected.
I think this means that I should spend today in contemplation and planning. Mondays are typically that way anyway, so in a mundane sense (i.e., work), I’m going to work on my deadlines and getting my shit together. In a more enlightened sense, I will go for a walk, breathe in Nature, and contemplate my life’s meaning here in Georgia.
I also plan on meeting with the pagan boyfriend virtually tonight, so I can’t wait to tell him about this.
